iPolar 2.3

iPolar is a tool designed to generate sailing yachts' polars for cruising yachts and cruiser racers using a straightforward set of data. The application is compatible with iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch devices.

Required input data includes Length Overall, Displacement, Mainsail area, and Jib area, with the flexibility to choose between metric or imperial units. Optional data that can be provided includes Length Waterline, Symmetrical Spinnaker area, and Asymmetrical spinnaker area.

iPolar calculates a performance polar for each sail configuration specified in the input data. These polars describe the yacht's performance in knots within wind strengths of 4 to 30 knots and true wind angles from 0° to 180°.

The output format displays the resulting polars both graphically and as a numerical table within iPolar. Moreover, users can directly transfer the polars to the weather/routing application Weather4D Pro.

It is important to note that iPolar focuses on creating accurate polars for cruising yachts exclusively at this point. The application does not support multihulls and is tailored for yachts ranging from 8 to 20 meters in size. Accuracy may vary for vessels with displacement to length and sail area to displacement ratios outside the typical range found in production cruisers and cruiser racers.
